She is a special needs kitty rescued 7 years ago after the breeder was going to have her euthanized because she was born with Spina Bifida and her last vertebrae because of overbreeding. Because of this all of her nerves are dead therefore she cannot use them to push the pee and poo out herself so, she has to be expressed throughout the day and night and is prone to urinary tract infections so is on Clavamox periodically to fight the infection. Other than that she is the most amazing little special needs kitty in the world. She doesn’t even know that anything is wrong with her.
He is a 7-year-old special needs kitty and was rescued along with his sibling Klee Wee from a breeder and also has Spina Bifida. Due to this he has to be expressed throughout the day and night and gets blocked periodically where he can’t pee. He has frequent trips to the vet and in desperate need of surgery, He is in need of surgery.
Tiggar is a 9-year-old special needs kitty with diabetes. She has to have insulin shots twice a day for the rest of her life. She was trapped along with her siblings as a feral and tamed and now has a forever loving home here at the Pets & Animals Sanctuary with all of the other fur babies.
Momma Kitty is our beautiful Kitty Queen. She is so sweet even though she is a feral. She loves to hang out and visit all of the other kitties on the screened patio. She has been with us for about 11 years living at the sanctuary with the rest of the kitty family we care for 24/7. They all love to chase the laser pen and love to roll in catnip and eat their Temptation treats.
Thor is approximately 12 years old and was rescued and trapped after hurricane Mathew hit us here on Florida Treasure Coast and was starving in very poor health condition and now lives his remaining life here at the Pets & Animals Sanctuary. living a good happy life with all his other special cat brothers and sister siblings and loves playing and sleeping. He has turned out to be the most lovable affectionate kitty in the world.
Oscar is a special needs 9 yrs old kitty that was rescued and trapped as a feral kitten along with his siblings and was finally was tamed with a lot of patience and love and hard work and now he is a MONSTER weighing almost 23 pounds and a gentle BIG love muffin that needs to be on special prescription cat food for his joints and kidneys for the rest of his life.
Gizmo is 9 yrs old Bob tailed Ragdoll that was rescued from a TERRIBLE Ragdoll breeder that would have ended up being KILLED because he did not pass to be sold as a purebred ragdoll which many of these breeders kill many pure breed cats because they have some kind of medical defect which really upsets us that these breeders only care about making money and they could care less of the cat’s life and tossed out like garbage. Pets & Animals in Distress does care and that is why Gizmo was given a second chance in life to live his life out at the Pets & Animals Sanctuary.
Phantom was rescued and trapped along with her litter mates after Hurricane Irma hit us here in Florida which left a wake of disaster and many pets were found abandoned and homeless. Phantom does not like being around other cats and has her own safe space haven here.
Apollo is also 7 years old trapped and tamed after a hurricane and has become a permanent fixture in charge of the kitchen counter. We had to make him his own special bed because this is his comfort zone and he flips flops all over giving his love every time you walk by and he says “free hugs for visitors”. You can’t pass by unless you do. He’s the toll keeper.
Bull is 8 yrs old with special needs that were also rescued by trapping and tamed as a feral kitten along with his siblings after a hurricane. We named him Bull because as a kitten he would always give head butts like a bull with horns. We also call him “Mr. Bull” and he has the beautiful plume tail he likes to show off and strut. Bull is a special need that needs daily glucosamine with his foods for his joints.
Booter Bear is 8 yrs old and a special needs kitty where he has IBD, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Boy is on medication frequently along with very expensive special prescription diet food that helps alleviate the inflammation in his intestines to keep it under control. He came from the litter trapped and tamed from the many hurricanes that have hit us here in Florida.
Angel Eyes is a beautiful girl rescued after Hurricane Mathew and came to us as a stray scared and lost. We took her in and cleaned her up and had her spayed and now has a forever home with our beautiful kitty family. We also call her “Dirty Harriet” because of the way she looks sometimes like Clint Eastwood when he says, “go ahead…make my CAT day” she is absolutely beautiful
Pookie is a year old and is a CH Kitty that has Cerebellum Hyploplasia was surrendered to us by a very young girl that had found him in their neighborhood. Her daddy would not allow her to keep him so we took him in and he has become part of the family. It is so funny to watch him play and he loves playing with the automatic laser toy and is a little snuggler and likes to sleep in the bed with us.
Athena is about 6 months old and is our newest addition to the family. She was trapped as a feral kitten that played cat and mouse for about 3 weeks and I finally got her. She was only 6 weeks old all by herself out there and very malnourished and skinny. Now she rules the shelter and Pookie and she is inseparable. all by herself.
Miss Oscar is a very sweet feral cat that we trapped and has been with us for about 10 years. She is Oscar: still very skittish but she enjoys spending her time in her tropical sanctuary out there with Momma Kitty and her brother Blackie. We love her very much.
Blackie is 8 years old and is the younger brother of Miss Oscar. He was trapped as a feral and lives happily with his mommy and Miss Oscar they are all very spoiled and live in a beautiful tropical sanctuary.
